Payment Options

Virtual Credit Card

If you are not currently registered to receive payments electronically from Optum Financial and ECHO Health, Inc., beginning May 8, 2025 you will receive virtual credit card payments with your Explanation of Payment. If you have a HIPAA-certified fax number on file, your office will receive fax notifications; if not, your virtual card will be mailed.

Each notification will contain a virtual credit card (with a number unique to that payment transaction) and processing instructions. Be sure to process the full amount of the card's value prior to the expiration date on the card.  Normal merchant transaction fees apply.

What you need to do

This is the default payment option; no action is necessary. To manage your virtual card payment, you will need your Tax ID and a verification access code that you will receive from ECHO Health. If you do not receive the code, please contact ECHO at 800-813-9957.

EFT Payments

To set up EFT payments, you will need to provide your banking account information, an Optum Financial payment draft number, and a payment amount as part of the enrollment authentication.

Please note: Payments will appear on your bank statement from Huntington National Bank and ECHO as “HNB – ECHO.”

What you need to do

Sign up to receive EFT from all payers processing payments on the ECHO platform. A fee for this service may be required.
Sign up to receive EFT through Settlement Advocate for Delta Dental of Connecticut only. No Fees apply.

Medical Payment Exchange (MPX)

MPX is an electronic payment delivery method that offers a variety of payment options, including the ability to:

 • Convert provider checks into a real-time Virtual Card
Enroll in ACH for all future payments
Print the check on your local printer

What you need to do

If you are not enrolled to receive payments via EFT and opt out of virtual card payments, you may receive a fax or emailed offer to enroll for MPX when you have a payment available.

Note: If you have enrolled for MPX with another payer, you must opt out of virtual cards with Delta Dental of Connecticut to receive your payments in your MPX portal account for Delta Dental of Connecticut.

Paper Check

You can choose to receive paper checks and paper explanation of payments using your Tax ID and the verification access code provided by ECHO Health. If you do not receive the code, please contact ECHO at 800-813-9957.

835 Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)

Providers who enroll for EFT payments will continue to receive the associated ERAs from ECHO with the Optum Financial Payer ID. If you have not already done so, please make sure that your Practice Management System is updated to accept the Optum Financial Payer ID: 22189. All generated ERAs will be accessible on the ECHO provider portal

Changes to ERA enrollment or distribution can be made by contacting the ECHO Health Enrollment team at 440-835-3511.

Managing your national EFT

For assistance with receiving EFT payments from other Delta Dentals, please contact Professional Relations.

Please also note: These two very important actions will need to be taken in the future to assure that your payments from Delta Dental continue without interruption:

  • If you ever change your Tax I.D. number, in addition to informing ECHO Health of the change, you need to inform Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut of the change.
  • If you are currently enrolled in the Delta Dental National EFT program, if you change your banking information, in addition to notifying ECHO Health of the change, you need to provide the new banking information to Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut.

If either of these two situations occur related to your practice, in addition to notifying ECHO Health of the changes, please also contact Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut at 888-396-6641 to inform us of the changes.
