- An associate whose commitment to community extended beyond volunteering!
On September 12th for our annual All Associate Volunteer Day, we closed our business so that our Associates could go out into our local communities to give back their time, talents, and hearts to nonprofits throughout NJ (and CT)! This year nearly 225 associates volunteered at 15 nonprofit organizations across New Jersey and Connecticut. Associates from all departments across the organization volunteered for a combined 665 volunteer hours.
Organizations associates volunteered at included:
- America Grow-A-Row in Milford, NJ to harvest crops to reduce food insecurity for families across New Jersey.
- Cheshire Home in Florham Park, NJ to participate in hosting fun, interactive activities with young adults living with spinal cord injuries.
- Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey in Kinnelon, NJ cleaning up Lake Rickabear to prepare for school-year programming.
- Healing Meals Community Project in Simsbury, CT working with chefs to prepare and pack nutritious meals for individuals and families facing a health crisis.
- Eleventh Hour Rescue in Flanders, NJ cleaning and refreshing outside areas for rescue animals.
A Heartwarming Adoption Story
Our associates’ charitable deeds extended beyond All Associate Volunteer Day, especially our associate Bill Kaiser, who adopted a dog his volunteer team got to meet at Eleventh Hour Rescue (pictured top left in the above banner image). As in the name, most of the animals at this rescue are in their 11th hour and will be living out the rest of their lives within the shelter. The rescue is the animal’s home where they have special treatment based on their needs and have space to live a comfortable and fulfilling life with amazing employees who dedicate their time to ensuring each animal is taken care of.
“While volunteering at Eleventh Hour Animal Rescue during a cleanup project, I met a dog whose eyes told a story my heart couldn’t ignore. That day, I didn’t just help clean—I found a new best friend and brought joy home with me,” said Bill Kaiser of our Marketing Team, recalling the volunteer experience and how he helped an Eleventh Hour pup find a forever home.
Each year, All Associate Volunteer Day has added new organizations, with some recurring ones, over the years since 2019. Organizations we have volunteered with throughout the years have also included nonprofits that receive funding from the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation. Matheny Medical and Education Center in Peapack, NJ, Boys & Girls Club of Newark, NJ and KinderSmile Foundation in Bloomfield, NJ are among some of the organizations that our Foundation supports, and that we have volunteered with throughout the years.
