The lamb is a newborn sheep. Even adult
sheep are pretty docile, and feed mainly on grass,
alfalfa and grains such as corn, oats and grain sorghum.
Lambs have 20 temporary teeth; the adult sheep has
32 permanent teeth at maturity.
Apparently the sheep's diet can be
damaging to their teeth, because some literature
reports that their teeth can become worn down, which
can lead to starvation. One article on the Internet
reports that England's Ministry of Agriculture is
conducting trials to see whether experimental false
teeth for sheep will lead to a decrease in sheep
mortality and an increase in the birth rate of lambs. |
